Suffolk Primary Care is excited to offer a new opportunity for a Training & Education Manager to lead this new function for the group. Take charge of coordinating diverse education initiatives, supporting GP & Medical Student training, and fostering continuous professional development. As a key player, you’ll collaborate with senior managers, the Suffolk & North East Essex Training Hub, and various other stakeholders to ensure the highest standards in training quality and outcomes. Help shape the future of healthcare education in Suffolk!

We would like the successful candidate to ideally work 3-4 days per week. Shortlisting and interviews will take place early January and the interview panel will consist of a minimum of 2 people.

Main duties of the job

Lead on Training & Education including line management of Coordinators

Lead and advise the organisation on training and education requirements & provision. This includes planning, delivery and evaluation of education and training activities, training programmes, and continuing professional development for the workforce.

Develop and deliver an organisation wide training needs analysis.

Support GP Trainers across SPC including the consolidation of associated administration.

Work alongside the SNEE Training Hub and Educational supervisors in the planning of education, learning and development.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary

Helping to setup and lead a new Training & Education function, you will be responsible for the coordination of education and training provision across SPC. This will include undertaking a skills needs assessment for our staff, supporting GP training administratively, identifying and arranging training activities and training programmes, as well as monitoring and supporting continuing professional development for both the clinical and non-clinical workforce.

You will work closely with senior and site managers and a multitude of staff from different backgrounds and professional groups, as well as the Suffolk & North East Essex (SNEE) Training Hub to support a broad range of training programmes and educational activities, including the identification of training opportunities, training of trainers and coordination of projects to assess and or improve education quality and outcomes.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead on Training & Education including line management of Coordinators
  • Lead and advise the organisation on training and education requirements & provision. This includes planning, delivery and evaluation of education and training activities, training programmes, and continuing professional development for the workforce.
  • Develop and deliver an organisation wide training needs analysis.
  • Support GP Trainers across SPC including the consolidation of associated administration.

  • Work to maintain SPCs acreditation as recognised Learning Organisation.
  • In collaboration with HR and Team/Department Leads ensure new colleagues have access to a quality induction.
  • Maintain awareness of and relationships with Educators i.e. GP Trainers, ACP Roadmap Supervisors, Training Hub Ambassadors.
  • Support a broad range of training programmes and complex educational activities, including identification of training opportunities, train the trainers and co-ordination of projects to assess and/or help improve clinical education.
  • Ensure evidence and systems are in place for robust reporting for educational governance, quality assurance and other external bodies as required.
  • Manage online mandatory training platforms.
  • Work closely with the senior managers and Finance Team to plan and monitor expenditure against budget.
  • Develop and implement with appropriate colleagues policies, protocols and procedures for Education and Training.
  • Develop strong relationships with all SPC sites, supporting the planning and delivery of training for all staff.
  • Develop relationships with peers across other PCNs to share learning and expertise at place or system level.
  • Input into the design and delivery of training and development programmes based on the needs of the organisation.
  • Evalaute training and development programmes to ensure continous improvements.
  • Monitor and review the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussion with stakeholders.
  • Attend internal and external meetings representing the organsaition in relation to education and training.
  • Work with senior and site managers as well as HR to scope employment potential in line with training & education opportunities.
  • Provide day to day operational support to the organisation.
  • Attend and provide updates & reports to the monthly Integrated Governance Committee

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths

Desirable

  • Project management qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing, supporting and guiding others
  • Experience within a training / HR role
  • Experience of project management
  • Experience of writing and presenting materials and reports to senior managers

Desirable

  • Experience as a Training / Education Manager or similar
  • Experience within the NHS/Healthcare System
