Angel Hill Surgery, has an opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join the practice, to support the nursing team, on a part-time basis, for between 23 and 27 hours per week over 4 days.  

Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse, and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

 

The healthcare assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas such as:

  • wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines;
  • Patient health checks; for NHS health Checks, Learning Disabilities;
  • ECGs
  • Undertake pre-long- term conditions clinics
  • re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines; 
  • clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms;
  • preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations;
  • Assist with immunisation clinics 
  • Chaperoning and assisting patients
  • providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers;

Angel Hill Surgery, situated in Bury St Edmunds, is a well-established and friendly practice in the centre of the Suffolk market town. Our practice team consists of 11 GPs (some with special interests) and a dedicated and supportive clinical team including a visiting paramedic, prescribing paramedic, clinical pharmacists, nurse practitioner, five practice nurses and two HCAs. We are supported by a full management and administration team.
